General MM Naravane shares publisher’s statement regarding book status
General MM Naravane recently shared a statement from his publisher, Penguin Random House India, clarifying the status of his memoir Four Stars of Destiny. The book remains unpublished and awaits clearance from the Ministry of Defence.
Penguin affirmed it holds exclusive rights and emphasized that no copies have been published, distributed, or sold in any format, including print or digital. They distinguished pre-order availability or announcements from actual publication, noting any circulating versions infringe copyright.
Naravane posted on X: “This is the status of the book,” endorsing the publisher’s clarification amid the row. He previously stated the matter is between the publisher and MoD, expressing no further involvement.
The issue escalated after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi displayed a purported copy in Parliament, sparking disruptions and a Delhi Police FIR over alleged illegal circulation of the manuscript. The memoir covers sensitive topics like the Galwan clash and Agnipath scheme, requiring defence review.
