Machado Offered Trump Her Nobel, but Prize Institute Says It’s Not Allowed
María Corina Machado, Venezuela’s opposition leader and the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, offered to give or share her award with President Donald Trump as a gesture of gratitude for U.S. actions leading to Nicolás Maduro’s arrest.
The Norwegian Nobel Institute clarified that Nobel Peace Prizes cannot be transferred, shared, revoked, or given to another person once awarded, emphasizing the decision’s finality.
Machado made the offer during a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity, praising Trump’s role in Venezuela’s democratic transition.
Trump, who has long coveted the prize, agreed to meet Machado in Washington the following week.
Despite her strong popular support in 2024 elections, Trump has questioned her leadership viability post-Maduro.
